To commemorate the observance of the annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) and the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children, the Philippine Reclamation Authority Gender and Development (PRA-GAD) Focal Point led by Chairperson Atty. Janilo E. Rubiato and Vice-Chairperson Chona T. Flores organized a free film showing for the employees of the agency on December 12, 2019.

The Cinemalaya film “Bagahe” tells a simple yet revealing story of an OFW who was abused and how bureaucracy dehumanizes the people it supposes to help and exposes how victims can easily be subjected to prejudice. Directed by Zig Dulay, the movie revolves around the sad experience of Mercy Agbunag implicated in a heinous crime but as the plot unravels, it reveals tedious bureaucracy and intolerance that reflects a frustrating truth in our society.

Officers and employees of the agency were treated not just to free lunch and snacks that was provided but also to an award-winning flick where one of the main actors was able to answer questions in a talkback after the screening.
