PRA personnel who participated in the 2022 International Coast Cleanup at Barangay Julugan 1 in Tanza, Cavite.
The Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) participated in the conduct of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) activity along the coastal areas of Barangay Julugan 1, Tanza, Cavite on 17 September 2022. Adopting the theme, “WE CLEAN ON – for our Ocean and for Each Other”, the cleanup was done together with the Provincial Government of Cavite and the Municipal Government of Tanza in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy and International Coastal Cleanup Philippines.
Around 500 volunteers including 79 PRA personnel mobilized to keep the coastal surroundings safe from health hazards. The Agency has long been joining the rest of the world in observance of the global coastal cleanup to spread awareness in keeping our coastlines clean. It has always been active in cleanup activities to support international and local environmental efforts in protecting the country’s coastlines. This is a manifestation of PRA’s unwavering efforts towards environmental protection and coastal rehabilitation.
The PRA likewise donated various coastal cleaning materials, hygiene kits, and 250 pieces of tonner bags for Barangays Capipisa, Amaya 5, Amaya 7, Halayhay and Calibuyo. The said in-kind donations were identified by the beneficiary coastal communities as their needs and were then formally requested by the Municipal Government of Tanza as part of the Social Development & Management Program (SDMP) of PRA relative to the PRA San Nicolas Shoal (SNS) Seabed Quarry Project.
In response to the state of calamity in the Municipality of Tanza due to dengue outbreak, the PRA also donated 14 liters of dengue solution to further equip the coastal communities and their families against the outbreak.

The officers and employees of PRA and its subsidiary, PEA Tollway Corporation (PEATC), has always conducted the activity in the Las Pinas Paranaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA). This year however, the Management decided to partner with the Municipal Government of Tanza for PRA’s commitment under the Annual Environmental Protection & Enhancement Program (AEPEP) and the annual SDMP relative to the PRA SNS Seabed Quarry Project.
One of the activities under the Information Education & Communication (IEC) for both the AEPEP and SDMP is coastal cleanup in areas where the quarry project is located. Thus, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) for SNS has constantly encouraged PRA to collaborate and partner for the ICC activity with the Municipal Government of Tanza where the dredging operations are ongoing.

The PRA’s sustained participation in the annual ICC is rooted in its good corporate governance. Specifically in its corporate social responsibility statement and commitment in coastal defense strategy, management, and protection. Above and beyond, its active involvement in the promotion of environmental consciousness and mitigation of environmental concerns is one of its many contributions in nation-building and development.
