PRA and PEATC personnel who participated in the coastal cleanup in LPPCHEA on June 25, 2022

One hundred forty-two personnel of the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), together with its subsidiary PEA Tollway Corporation (PEATC), participated in the cleanup activities in the coastlines of Parañaque City at the Las Piñas–Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA), also known as the Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park, on June 25, 2022.

PRA and PEATC personnel collected 610 sacks of mixed waste in LPPCHEA. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, PRA has been regularly conducting cleanup activities in support of international and local environmental efforts in protecting our coastlines. This is the first coastal cleanup activity organized by PRA after a two-year halt caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

PRA likewise actively participates in the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day that happens every third Saturday of September as declared in the Presidential Proclamation No. 470, s. 2003. The ICC Day commemorates efforts towards environmental protection and coastal rehabilitation. PRA prides itself as part of this global movement in raising awareness and helping stem the tide of pollution in Manila Bay through such activities.

In line with its corporate social responsibility statement, PRA puts premium in advancing sustainable development without compromising the environment. The regular conduct of coastal cleanup activities is one of the many initiatives undertaken by PRA to partake in the promotion of coastal defense strategies for the country with reclamation as an enabling component.
