Last September 19, 2012, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) spearheaded the 112th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) with the theme “Kawani, Ikaw ay Isang Lingkod Bayani!”. The CSC lined up awarding ceremonies for the 2012 Outstanding Public Officials and Employees. The agency also held a fun run, an essay writing contest, a choral competition and a photo contest, all promoting the concept of service and heroism in public service and to recognize the sacrifices of government employees for the victory of the whole nation. All government agencies were enjoined to be part of the anniversary.

The Philippine Reclamation Authority employees joined in the momentous occasion and participated in the R.A.C.E to II Fun Run, which is the culminating activity for the month-long celebration of the PCSA. The CSC opened the event to government employees and private individuals and also for those who are Filipino citizens age 18 years old and above, which made this year’s turn out of participants to be bigger than it has ever been. The participants gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta, Manila and started at around 5:00 A.M. Drinking stations, portalets and first aid tents were available at certain points of the race for the convenience of the participants. The proceeds of the fun run will be donated to the families of those civil servants who died in the line of duty.
