PRA’s Livelihood Skills Training Program with the theme “Pangkabuhayan Ang Sagot sa Kahirapan” culminated with a graduation ceremony last November 28, 2018. The training was an initiative of the Philippine Reclamation Authority to promote equal access to income generating livelihood among men and women. The activity was spearheaded by PRA’s Gender and Development (GAD) group complemented by the assistance of the Las Piñas City Social Welfare Development Office and the Barangay Officials of Barangays Daniel Fajardo and Ilaya in Las Piñas City.

There were sixty-five (65) beneficiaries from Barangays Daniel Fajardo and Ilaya, Las Piñas who acquired technical skills on Electrical Installation and Maintenance with National Certificate (NC) II, T-Shirt, Mug, Fan, Eco Bag, Keychain and Tumbler Printing, and Cellular Phone Repair training provided by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Aside from certificates and medals for special awardees, the graduates were also given starter kits which they can use to start their livelihood and earn additional income for their families.

The beneficiaries of the training program were former informal settlers along the land strips of the above cited barangays who were affected by the Manila Cavite Coastal Road and Reclamation Project (MCCRRP).
